Leadership
FALL 2026
A Message from our president and CEO

It’s been a year of data-driven innovation at Houston Methodist. Through advances in artificial intelligence initiatives, our experts today leverage the scores of routine patient data collected across our academic medical center to work toward enhanced precision medicine — including personalized risk prediction, optimized treatment selection and next-generation therapeutic development.
The hotspot for this work is the Houston Methodist–Rice University Digital Health Institute. This special joint partnership matches real-world clinical application with advanced data engineering. Through exceptional philanthropic support in 2026, the institute launched the new Chao Scholars program, set to train tomorrow’s digital health pioneers. I invite you to read more about this work here.
Another way philanthropy inspires the people behind the medicine is through investment in endowed positions. These prestigious academic appointments offer permanent funding to outstanding physician-scientists and other leaders to help them dream big in pursuing high-reward projects and scholarly excellence. If you’re anything like me, the approaching holidays signal a season of hope. As Houston Methodist moves forward in our second century, this hope is to aim higher, reach further and push boundaries once thought immovable. Thank you for the support that makes our work possible. We wish you celebrations of peace and cheer with cherished family and friends — and a bright new year ahead.
